Kargil, January 21, 2025: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) and First Lady, Smt. Neelam Mishra today attended a function at Tourist Facilitation Centre, Kargil to celebrate the Foundation Day of Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura.
Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon; Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Shrikant Balasaheb Suse; Senior Superintendent of Police, Shree Ram R; Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Wani, Lt Kunal Prasad, 13 JAK RIF from Meghalaya, Maj Okeshwar, 5/5 GR from Manipur, Lt Col Peter from Manipur and district officers of Kargil district were present at the historic event.
Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura were formed on 21st January, 1972 under the North East Area (Reorganization) Act 1971.
Speaking at the event, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor praised the determination of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, particularly his initiative to celebrate the Foundation Day of all states/UTs at other states/UTs to raise awareness about different cultures and enhance interaction and promote mutual understanding between people of different states/UTs.
Terming the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme as emotional and an integration of cultures, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor wished the people of all the three states serving in Ladakh on its Foundation Day.
The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor stated that the North Eastern States have a rich history which is praiseworthy and commended the contribution of its people in the nation building.
The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor recalled his decades before connection with Manipur and recent gubernatorial assignment of Meghalaya.
The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor shared that on Ladakh’s UT Foundation Day in 2023, students from Ladakh were sent to the Raj Niwas of other Union Territories, where they showcased their culture through performances. Their efforts were highly appreciated by the respective Hon’ble Governors of those UTs and states.
At the event, Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon also congratulated the people of the three states on their Foundation Day.
Guest from the three states serving in the Indian Army in Kargil district, informed about the state, its rich culture, flora and fauna and the significance of their festivals.
Earlier, a video message from the Hon’ble Governors of Manipur and Meghalaya was screened during the event.
