    Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) discusses proposal for construction of Media Centre-cum-Office Complex of Department Information & Public Relations, Leh.

    Leh, March 14, 2024: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) held a meeting with the Secretary and other concerned officials of Information & Public Relations along with the consultants and executing agency at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat to discuss the proposal for the construction of the Media Center-cum-Office Complex of Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Leh.
    Shri Rohit from Rohit Mudaliar Architects apprised the HLG of the revisions made in the design of the structure housing the auditorium and the office complex comprising the auditorium, office space, community facilities such as art studio, photo exhibition, art gallery, library-cum-digital archive; café, parking area, etc. as suggested by the HLG. He informed that an extra floor has been added to the disabled-friendly and centrally-heated structure and the seating capacity of the auditorium has been increased to 170 seats, including the balcony with 28 seats. He also informed that all the structures, including the eateries/cafeteria, which was earlier planned outside the structure, have now been incorporated into the structure to provide more walking space to the spectators.
    The HLG commended the officials for increasing the seating capacity. He highlighted the need to utilise architectural skills to provide maximum seating capacity keeping its utility in the future in mind along with focusing on safety and security measures. He also asked to exclude the sentry box at the entrance and have an appropriate security guard duty location to make the whole structure visually more aesthetic.
    The HLG asked the consultant to change the tread and riser of the stairs leading to the office complex on the first floor and add a foyer-like area to ensure that the office staff don’t feel claustrophobic. He also asked to keep the library open, detach the pantry from the toilet complex, utilise the record room as a stationery room, include locker system and compactors in the storage room and put transparent/opaque glasses with ventilation facility on the roof to control the sunlight and luminosity with optimum atmospheric air.
    Secretary, I&PR, Shri Vikram Singh Malik, IAS; Joint Director, I&PR, Shri Imteeaz Kacho, JKAS; Assistant Director, DIPR Leh, Dr Tundup Namgail along with consultant/architect and engineers from CPWD joined the meeting physically/virtually.
