Hon’ble Lt. Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) holds interaction session with officers of Higher Command Course.
Leh, August 12, 2023: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), attended an interaction session with officers of the Higher Command Course at DC Conference Hall, Leh.
Welcoming the officers of the Higher Command Course in Ladakh, the HLG stated that their visit to Ladakh would help them in understanding the actual situation in the forward areas. During his interaction with the officers, the HLG shared the history of Ladakh with them. He stated that Ladakh has taken huge strides on the development front after becoming a union territory on 31st October 2019.
The HLG stated that the UT Administration faced several challenges in the form of providing potable drinking water to the citizens of Ladakh, providing skill development trainings to the youth to encourage them to become entrepreneurs so that they could come up with their own start-ups and filling up the vacant posts in government departments, etc. He also stated that the Administration is committed to developing every sector in Ladakh.
The HLG gave a detailed presentation on initiatives taken by the UT Administration along with the two Hill Councils and PRIs for the overall development of Ladakh, including women empowerment, skill development, preservation of pashmina and wood carving, production of apricot and sea buckthorn, promotion of ice hockey and other winter games, promotion of horse polo, carbon neutral initiatives, electric vehicles, Mission Organic Development Initiative (MODI), JJM, Homestays and unique culture of Ladakh, etc.
Highlighting the importance of warfare, strategy and military alliance for Armed and Paramilitary forces, the HLG emphasised on strategy, organisation, boosting troops’ morale and fighting capability along with keeping the nation’s security, sovereignty and integrity intact as the responsibility of the officers as they are the future leaders of the nation. He advised that humanism should be a part of the lives of the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force personnel.
His Eminence Drukpa Thuksey Rinpoche, welcoming the officers of the Higher Command Course in Ladakh, stated that Ladakh saw a lot of development in all aspects, including spiritualism. Terming the Ladakhis as soldiers, he highlighted their contributions and efforts in nation-building along with the Indian Army. He stressed the need to focus on education, environment and spiritualism for a safe and secure future of Ladakh.
Chairman/ CEC, LAHDC Leh, Shri Tashi Gyalson appreciated the contributions of the army in the region. He stated that the Indian Army and the people of Ladakh share an old relationship. He appreciated the contribution of Ladakh Scouts and informed that dPal rNgam Duston award was awarded to Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre on the occasion of their diamond jubilee celebrations.
CEC Gyalson informed about Ladakh’s development in all sectors after becoming a Union Territory. He highlighted the Vibrant Villages Programme initiated by the Government of India under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Mod ji. He stated that many people from remote areas of Ladakh are returning to their villages due to the availability of basic amenities and facilities provided by the Government after the formation of Ladakh as a union territory.
Major Gen Ajay Chandpuria informed about the Higher Command Course and the purpose of the visit of the officials/students to forward areas such as Ladakh. He informed that such visits provide an opportunity for the officials/students of the Higher Command Course to understand the actual ground situation. He appreciated the contribution of the people of Ladakh towards the nation. Maj Gen Ajay Chandpuria assured that the Army will work with utmost dedication for the nation’s security and integrity.
