    16 projects in Ladakh, including 8 roads, 6 bridges and two other key works, among projects inaugurated on 66th Raising Day of BRO
    Leh, May 07, 2025: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), virtually attended the e-inauguration of 50 infrastructure projects by the Hon’ble Union Defence Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh, on the occasion of the 66th Raising Day of the Border Roads Organisation. Chief Secretary, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS and Col Tarun Kalia from Project Himank were also present.
    The 50 infrastructure projects, inaugurated virtually by the Hon’ble Defence Minister to boost connectivity and national security, include 16 projects in Ladakh – eight roads, six bridges and two other key works- implemented under Project Himank and Project Vijayak worth around Rs 947.43 crores. Project Himank was conferred the Best Project Award by the Hon’ble Defence Minister for their infrastructure development works in Ladakh. Similarly, Project Yojak was felicitated by the Hon’ble Defence Minister for the Nimoo-Padum-Darcha Road project. Tara and Rakesh Kumar- both Casual Paid Labourers engaged with Project Yojak- were also felicitated on the occasion.
    Speaking on the occasion, the Hon’ble Defence Minister complimented the Indian armed forces for carrying out Operation Sindoor in a thoughtful and measured manner. Calling BRO the nation’s real trailblazer, he expressed his happiness for getting the opportunity to inaugurate 50 infrastructure projects, which would not only improve transportation, tourism and economy but also connect people’s hearts. He reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to developing remote and high-altitude border areas through various initiatives such as the Vibrant Villages Programme.
    Earlier, in his welcome speech, Director General, BRO, Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan highlighted various infrastructure development projects being carried out by BRO, including those in Ladakh such as Shinku-La Tunnel, Mudh-Nyoma Airfield, Nimoo-Padum-Darcha Road, etc.
    Three publications of BRO and the official website of BRO were unveiled on the occasion. A film on BRO and the inauguration of 50 infrastructure projects was screened on the occasion.
