    Reiterates UT Administration’s dedication to inclusive development of Ladakh.
    Leh, 25 July, 2025: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Kavinder Gupta, held a comprehensive interactive session with the Heads of Departments (HoDs) of the Khaltse Sub Division, aimed at reviewing departmental functioning and addressing key developmental concerns of the Khaltse Sub-Division, on the way to Kargil.
    On his arrival at Khaltse, the HLG was received by Councillor Khaltse, Lobzang Sherpa; DC Leh, Romil Singh Donk, IAS and SSP Leh, Shruti Arora, IPS and accorded guard of honour by Ladakh Police.
    In the meeting, various departmental HoDs apprised the HLG of the current staff strength and ongoing projects/activities at their respective offices. A major concern raised by the HoDs was the shortage of manpower affecting multiple departments.
    Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, the HLG directed the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Mr. Mohd Sharief, to compile and submit a detailed report outlining issues along with actionable recommendations.
    Councillor, Khaltse Constituency, Mr. Lobzang Sherab, highlighted the long-pending issue of BSNL mobile tower installation in the sub-division to boost telecommunication connectivity. He emphasised the urgency for administrative support to expedite approval of the Draft Sports Policy for Ladakh to benefit local sportspersons. Mr. Sherab also voiced concerns over the decline in agricultural activities in the constituency and appealed for proactive policy intervention to revitalise the sector. He further raised the issue of stray/feral dogs posing threats across Ladakh, which the HLG assured would be addressed with appropriate measures.
    Later in the day, several delegations called on the HLG, including the President of LBA Sham, monks from Lamayuru Monastery, the Contractor Association from Sham, Nambardars of Khaltse Sub-Division, as well as representatives of the Youth Association and Women’s Association from Sham. These groups submitted formal memoranda detailing critical concerns such as staffing shortages, the necessity of CCTV installation at major village junctions in the wake of an increase in theft incidents, infrastructure enhancement at the Government Degree College Khaltse, unresolved land disputes with the Army in Aryan Valley, and pressing needs for irrigation canal development, etc.
    The HLG gave a patient hearing to all representations and expressed a strong commitment to making sure the timely and effective resolution of the issues brought forth. He reiterated the UT Administration’s dedication to inclusive development and assured all stakeholders that their concerns would be given due priority.
