Leh, June 29: A review meeting on the implementation of various schemes under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, was held under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Union Minister for MSME, GoI, Sh. Jitan Ram Manjhi, at the DC Conference Hall, Leh, today.
The meeting was attended by Sh. Vinamra Mishra, Joint Secretary (A&T), Ministry of MSME; Sh. Surendra Prasad Pant, PS to Hon’ble Minister; Deputy Commissioner Leh, Sh. Romil Singh Donk (IAS); Director, Industries & Commerce, UT Ladakh, Sh. M.A. Bhatt (JKAS); Sh. Amit Kumar Tamaria, Joint Director, MSME-DFO J&K and Ladakh; State Director, KVIC, Sh. Rajesh Kumar; General Manager, DIC Leh, Sh. A.G. Zargar (JKAS); Smt. Tsering Wangmo UTLBC, Conveynor; bank representatives, entrepreneurs, MSME association members, and officers of the Industries & Commerce Department
The programme commenced with the felicitation of the visiting delegation, followed by a presentation on the MSME schemes. Giving an overview of Ladakh’s MSME ecosystem, Director, Industries & Commerce, UT Ladakh, Sh. M.A. Bhatt (JKAS) apprised the chair about implementation status about various MSME schemes being implemented by Industries & Commerce Department in UT of Ladakh.
Addressing the gathering, Sh. Vinamra Mishra, Joint Secretary (A&T), Ministry of MSME, stated that Hon’ble Union Minister Sh. Jitan Ram Manjhi is the first Union Minister from the MSME Ministry to visit Ladakh. He also elaborated on the major schemes of the Ministry and highlighted MSME’s significant contribution to employment generation and GDP growth.
The forum was later opened to officers, bank representatives, entrepreneurs and stakeholders, who raised various grievances, concerns and suggestions regarding scheme implementation, credit accessibility, subsidies and market linkages. The queries and concerns raised were addressed during the interaction.
In his address, Hon’ble Union Minister, Sh. Jitan Ram Manjhi, highlighted the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi of generating employment and empowering citizens through MSMEs. He stated that after agriculture, the MSME sector has emerged as one of the major contributors to India’s GDP growth and employment generation.
Hon’ble Union Minister observed that MSMEs have a relatively low carbon footprint and are well suited for sustainable growth, especially in ecologically sensitive regions like Ladakh. He appreciated the role of the UDYAM portal in simplifying enterprise registration and stressed the need for wider awareness programmes so that more people, particularly from underprivileged sections, can benefit from government schemes and improve their standard of living and dignity.
He further assured the participants that the grievances and concerns raised during the meeting would be addressed and reiterated the Ministry’s commitment towards strengthening the MSME sector in Ladakh.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Sh. Amit Kumar Tamaria, Joint Director, MSME-DFO, J&K and Ladakh.
