ICDS Project Kargil launches 7th Rashtriya Poshan Maah.
Kargil, Sept 03, 2024: Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Project Kargil today launched the 7th Rashtriya Poshan Maah, emphasizing the theme of “Growth Monitoring” to combat malnutrition in the region.
The inaugural event took place at the Anganwadi Centre (AWC) Tumail Gatoo, drawing participation from Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs), parents, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children from Panchayat Halqa Tumail.
Participants were educated on the importance of Poshan Maah and the role of growth monitoring in identifying and addressing malnutrition. The event featured a training session for AWWs, where they were instructed on the proper use of growth monitoring devices and growth charts—essential tools for tracking the growth and development of children.
As part of the event, screenings for Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) were conducted among the attending beneficiaries. Encouragingly, no cases of SAM or MAM were identified.
The initiative marks a strong start to the Poshan Maah celebrations in Kargil, with ongoing activities planned to ensure the health and well-being of children and mothers in the region.
