Independence Day celebrated in Zanskar Sub Division.

Kargil, August 15, 2023: Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Zanskar, Sonam Dorjay today hoisted the tri colour and took a salute at the march past at Sports Stadium Padum, Zanskar.
Ladakh Police, NCC and students of various Govt. and Private schools participated in the march past. While addressing the gathering, the SDM recalled the sacrifices of the heroes for the nation. He also highlighted the developmental works in the Sub-Division under various schemes.
The SDM said that a Multipurpose Theatre has been sanctioned by the Tourism Department. He also said that the work on Kargil-Padum NH-301 is under progress and will be completed shortly. He said BRO has also accelerated progress on Nimo-Padum-Darcha (NPD) road.
During the function, wheelchairs, sanctioned by the Education Department, were distributed among children with special needs (CWSN).
Colourful cultural programs were performed by various school children.
The Independence Day celebration was attended by Padma Shree Awardee, Chultrim Chonjor, Chairman Block Development Council Padum, President ZBA, ZGA, ZBA Youth Wing, Anjuman-e-Moinul Islam and heads of all the departments.
It the end, appreciation certificates were distributed by the chief guest and other guests among the personalities with achievements in their respective fields. Prizes were also distributed among the participants and position holders.
