Drass, June 06, 2026: The Inter-School Sports Tournament organized by the Youth Services & Sports Department was officially kicked off today in the newly formed Drass District. Designed to foster sportsmanship, physical fitness and community spirit, the tournament brings together students from various schools across District Drass for participation in different disciplines and categories.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Deputy Commissioner Imteeaz Kacho, Superintendent of Police, Ishtyaq Kacho, LAHDC Councillors Abdul Samad and Abdul Wahid, Block Medical Officer Dr. Sajjad Hussain and a number of officials.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the administration’s dedicated focus on expanding youth development and sports infrastructure across the newly established District. While lauding the sincere efforts of the Youth Services & Sports Department, he stated that sports plays a crucial role in shaping character and building a progressive society.
The Superintendent of Police highlighted the value of discipline, team building, and healthy lifestyles that athletic competitions instill in the younger generation.
The LAHDC Councillors appreciated the gesture and initiative of the Youth Services & Sports Department and expressed gratitude. They reiterated their commitment towards such initiatives that provide local youth with standard platforms and opportunities to showcase their athletic talents.
The visual highlight of the grand opening featured a vibrant march-past by student contingents representing all seventeen (17) participating institutions, followed by an oath-taking ceremony pledging fair play.
