International Year of Cooperatives Celebrations and Mimangs-Si-rJabstoks: Cooperative Awareness Camps Organized in Nubra Valley
12th November to 14th November, 2025
As part of the Celebration of the International Year of Cooperatives and Mimangs-Si-rJabstoks, the Cooperative Department, Nubra, in coordination with NABARD and NCDC, successfully organized a series of Cooperative Awareness Camps in Tyakshi, Taksha, and Diskit villages of Nubra Sub-Division from 12th to 14th November 2025. The camps were also aligned with the ongoing Mimangs-Si-rJabstoks campaign in the Union Territory of Ladakh, thereby reinforcing the broader objective of fostering community participation and strengthening grassroots cooperative initiatives.
The three-day campaign witnessed an overwhelming response, reaching out to nearly 350 villagers across the three locations. The initiative aimed to strengthen the Cooperative Movement in Ladakh by creating awareness about government schemes, business diversification opportunities, and new cooperative models.
Distinguished speakers, including Assistant Registrar Cooperative (ARC) Nubra Shri Skarma Tashi, Shri Tsewang Dorjey (District Development Manager, NABARD), and Shri Sandeep along with Shri Shrish (CBBO representatives appointed by NCDC), together with the Nambardars of the respective villages, graced the occasion and delivered insightful addresses during the camps, enriching the discourse with their expertise and vision for cooperative development.
Across the three awareness camps, ARC Nubra consistently provided participants with an in-depth briefing on the latest initiatives of the Ministry of Cooperation and the UT Administration, underscoring their strategic vision for strengthening the Cooperative Sector in Ladakh, computerization of C-PACS, CSC, and FPOs. Shri Tsewang Dorjey, DDM NABARD, delivered comprehensive sessions on the scope for business diversification among Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS), illustrating his discourse with inspiring success stories from Ladakh to motivate cooperatives in Nubra Valley toward innovative ventures.
Complementing these discussions, Shri Sandeep and Shri Shrish, representing NCDC as Coordinators for FPOs, offered detailed explanations on the formation of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), elaborating on their objectives, governance structure, and operational modalities, thereby equipping participants with actionable knowledge to leverage cooperative models for sustainable rural development.
The continuity of these deliberations across all three camps ensured that every participating village received uniform guidance and clarity on emerging opportunities within the Cooperative Sector. The most noteworthy aspect of the camps was the villagers’ spirited engagement, reflected in their active participation in deliberations, thoughtful queries, and evident determination to adopt cooperative models as a cornerstone for sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
This initiative, undertaken by the Cooperative Department Nubra, NABARD, and NCDC, represents a pivotal stride toward empowering rural communities and fostering inclusive development through a robust and vibrant Cooperative Movement in Ladakh.
