    Nubra, August 12, 2026: Government Degree College (GDC) Nubra observed International Youth Day 2026 on the themes: “Different Contexts: Common Aspirations” and “Local Solutions for Global Problems.”
    The college held a panel discussion comprising of students, faculty and staff on the vital role of the youth in tackling global challenges through simple, practical, and locally rooted solutions. The event took place in the college conference hall where students and faculty shared various perspectives on local, national and global issues surrounding the youth. Speakers highlighted that issues like climate change, environmental degradation, waste management, and sustainable development, system can be effectively addressed when communities come together and take small but meaningful local initiatives. The speakers also discussed national and local challenges surrounding the aspirations of youth.
    Students, faculty took active part in the event and shared thoughtful ideas and perspectives on how local actions can contribute to solving larger national and global concerns. The discussions also underlined the importance of education, awareness, innovation, and responsible citizenship in shaping a better society.
    The programme concluded with an encouraging message for students by the Principal, Rigzin Sandup to think globally while acting locally, and to play their part in building a better, more sustainable and hopeful future for all. Certificates of participation were also distributed among students for their shared involvement in the youth day celebrations.
