Kargil, January 19, 2026: The Information Technology Department, Union Territory of Ladakh, in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), today inaugurated a two-day workshop on Cyber Resilience at the Conference Hall, Baroo, Kargil. The workshop is aimed at strengthening cyber awareness and enhancing the operational preparedness of police officers of the Police Department, Kargil.
Notably, this is the first workshop organised by the IT Department since the formation of the Union Territory.
The workshop was inaugurated by Nitin Yadav, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kargil, who attended the programme as the Chief Guest and felicitated the resource persons on the occasion. Highlighting the increasing challenges posed by cybercrime, the SSP emphasised the need to equip police personnel with updated knowledge, skills, and practical tools to effectively counter emerging cyber threats.
The event was attended by Dr. Sanjat Bhardwaj, Under Secretary, IT Department, Ms. Akshita Krishna, Consultant, MeitY, Mr. Ishtiyaq, Project Manager (IT), Mr. Dorjay Gyalson, IT Assistant, along with distinguished resource persons Mr. Samrat Kishor, Mr. Gaurav Atrey, Dr. Anil Sain, and Mr. Sandeep Mudalkar.
At the outset, Dr. Sanjat Bhardwaj welcomed the participating police officers and briefed them on the objectives and structure of the workshop, underlining the role of cyber resilience in modern policing and internal security.
During the technical session, Mr. Samrat Kishor, Practice Head – Digital Infrastructure & Cybersecurity, delivered an insightful presentation covering emerging cyber threats, cyber equations, hybrid and cross-border attacks, deepfake technologies, corporate cyber risks, and various open-source tools that can be effectively utilised by police personnel during investigations and operations.
The two-day workshop aims to build the capacity of police officers to address cyber challenges through expert interactions, knowledge sharing, and hands-on exposure, thereby strengthening cyber resilience in the region.
