JIM&WS Principal Appreciates NCC Cadets of 1 Ladakh Battalion for Outstanding Performance in Basic Mountaineering Course Sr. number 157.
Pahalgam, July 28: Colonel Hemchandra Singh, Principal, Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports (JIM&WS), Pahalgam, congratulated and appreciated the NCC cadets of 1 Ladakh Battalion for their commendable performance during the 24-day Basic Mountaineering Course (Course Serial No. 157), conducted from 4 July to 27 July 2026.
The cadets successfully completed the rigorous course under the guidance of Anamika Bisht, demonstrating exemplary discipline, determination, teamwork, physical endurance, and enthusiasm throughout the training. Colonel Hemchandra Singh praised the high standards maintained by the NCC cadets and expressed confidence that the knowledge and practical skills acquired during the course would strengthen their leadership qualities and prepare them for future challenges.
He extended his best wishes to all the cadets for their future endeavours and encouraged them to continue upholding the values of adventure, discipline, teamwork, and service to the nation.
During the course, the cadets underwent intensive training in rock craft, rock climbing, rappelling, jumaring, pitch climbing, river crossing, ice craft, glacier travel, rope management, camp craft, map reading, mountain terminology, weather, knots and hitches, and high-altitude survival techniques.
Adding further glory to the institution and the NCC, LCPL Desal Dalkar secured Second Prize in the Endurance Event, while LCPL Sonam Chosphel was honoured with the prestigious Best Technique Award for outstanding technical performance during the course.
The achievement reflects the commitment of JIM&WS towards imparting quality mountaineering training and the dedication of the NCC cadets of 1 Ladakh Battalion in excelling in adventure and leadership activities.
