Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh felicitates Zahra Batool, Dilshad Ali at Council Secretariat Kargil.
Kargil, January 01, 2025: Youth Services and Sports Department, UT Ladakh today organized a felicitation ceremony at Council Secretariat Kargil, to honor the exceptional achievements of Zahra Batool and Dilshad Ali in the 68th National School Games.
Zahra Batool clinched the Gold medal in the Under-55 Kg U-19 Girls category in Taekwondo, while Dilshad Ali secured a Bronze medal in the Under-63 Kg category in Boxing, bringing pride and recognition to Ladakh through their exemplary performances.
The event was graced by Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, Councillor Parkachik at LAHDC, Kargil, Syed Ain ul Huda, alongside Mohd Issa Khan, Accounts Officer to Joint Director; Syed Mehraj Ud Din Shah, President of Ladakh Kho Kho Association and General Secretary District Kargil Olympic Association; and Anayat Ali Shotopa, General Secretary Ladakh Taekwondo Association.
Other notable attendees included Nissar Hussain Balkhani, Chief Technical Officer Ladakh Taekwondo Association; Mohd Ali Bhaghi, Cashier LTA; Safdar Ali, Cashier Ladakh Boxing Association and Coaches, Ghulam Mustafa and Mohd Ali, whose efforts significantly contributed to the athletes’ success.
While presenting traditional khataks and mementos to players, the Joint Director of Youth Services and Sports, commended the athletes for their dedication and hard work.
“Your achievements showcase Ladakh’s immense potential in sports. We are dedicated to providing unwavering support to our young talents to help them achieve even greater milestones,” he said.
He further highlighted upcoming initiatives aimed at strengthening the sports sector in UT Ladakh, including the introduction of two new disciplines at the SAI Centre Kargil, which will further enhance the opportunities for athletes in the region. He also praised the role of coaches, the SAI Centre, and the sports associations in nurturing talent.
Syed Mehraj Ud Din Shah expressed gratitude to the Sports Department, UT Ladakh, for its innovative measures to support athletes’ participation in national events, which has contributed to the consistent success of athletes at both national and international levels.
Anayat Ali Shotopa, General Secretary of the Ladakh Taekwondo Association, emphasized that the felicitation ceremony was a celebration of the athletes’ achievements and a call to inspire more youth from Ladakh to participate in sports actively.
The event concluded with stakeholders reaffirming their commitment to nurturing talent and elevating Ladakh’s presence in the national and international sports arena.
