    On 3rd July, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, Ms. Padmini Singla, accompanied by Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, Director of the Sheep Husbandry Department, UT Ladakh, and Shri Mohd Ismail Ganie (JKAS), Sub-divisional Magistrate of Durbuk, distributed essential incentives to sheep breeders and herders in Durbuk Block. These included portable tents, nomadic accessories such as pashmina combs, shoes, solar lights, milk-churning machines, and predator-proof corrals equipped with LED lighting.
    During the visit, Ms. Singla personally engaged with each breeder, attentively listening to their grievances and demands. Meanwhile, Dr. Iftikhar Hussain briefed her on the significant issues and challenges faced by sheep and goat herders across the Ladakh region. Block Officer Dr. Nasreen Fatima also provided a comprehensive overview of the Wool Development Board’s Ministry of Textiles initiatives in the Changthang area, highlighting more than a decade of sustained development efforts.
    Together, this collaborative effort underscores the Ministry’s commitment to improving the lives and livelihoods of Durbuk’s pastoralist community.
