Drass, April 13: The Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, today paid heartfelt homage to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation at the Kargil War Memorial.
During his visit, the Lieutenant Governor laid a wreath at the memorial and offered floral tributes to the martyrs, followed by a solemn silence in their honour. The visit reflected deep reverence and gratitude towards the valour and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces.
The Lieutenant Governor also visited the ‘Hut of Remembrance’ at the War Memorial, where he viewed the preserved letters and photographs of soldiers who laid down their lives during the Kargil conflict.
Expressing his sentiments, the Lieutenant Governor stated that it was a true honour and privilege to visit the Kargil War Memorial and pay homage to the martyrs. He described the memorial as a symbol of sacrifice, courage, and patriotism, and a place that evokes deep respect and gratitude for the armed forces.
“A visit to the Kargil War Memorial is a journey of reverence, remembrance, and gratitude to the brave hearts of the Indian Armed Forces who laid down their lives to protect the dignity and freedom of our motherland. The memorial stands as a solemn tribute to the fallen soldiers and their families. I bow to our Kargil martyrs and salute their supreme sacrifice,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor reiterated that the nation will always remain indebted to the brave soldiers who safeguarded the sovereignty and integrity of the country, often at the cost of their own lives. He emphasised the importance of remembering and honouring their sacrifices, which continue to inspire generations.
