Leh, August 17, 2026: As part of the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign, the Department of Culture and Tourism, UT Ladakh, organised a patriotic programme at the picturesque Sindhu Ghat, Leh, the Ladakh Eco-Tourism Hub, today, marking the grand culmination of the campaign. A large number of school children participated in the vibrant celebration of patriotism and national pride, along with specially-abled children, students from various schools and colleges, teachers and officials, against the majestic backdrop of the Indus River.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and featured patriotic songs, followed by the National Song and the National Anthem, evoking a strong sense of patriotism, unity and national pride. The programme also witnessed active participation from the Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Leh; School Education Department; EJM College; Nehru Yuva Kendra; and the District Administration.
Addressing the gathering, Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Shri Sanjeet Rodrigues, said that the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign is an opportunity to renew the nationwide collective commitment to the values embodied by the Tricolour and to remember the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and leaders who contributed to India’s independence.
Reflecting on the journey of the nation since Independence, he said that as the country commemorates 80 years of Independence, the occasion is also a reminder of the responsibilities that come with freedom. He urged the students to carry forward the spirit of patriotism by contributing positively to nation-building, strengthening communities and working together for a stronger, more united and progressive India.
Emphasising the importance of collective responsibility, Shri Rodrigues called upon the younger generation to uphold the values of unity, mutual respect and service, while taking care of one another and contributing meaningfully to society. He highlighted that the Tricolour is not merely a symbol of the nation but also represents the shared aspirations, sacrifices, unity and responsibility of every citizen.
The programme was attended by the Deputy Secretaries, Culture, Leh and Kargil; Assistant Director, Tourism, Leh; Chief Education Officer, Leh; Assistant Professors, EJM college Leh; Teachers of various Adjoining Schools; Students and other concerned officials.
The grand culmination at the iconic Sindhu Ghat, against the majestic backdrop of the Indus River, reaffirmed the enduring spirit of patriotism, unity and love for the nation. The gathering of around 1,200 young participants under the Tricolour made the occasion a proud and memorable conclusion to the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign in Ladakh 2026, while inspiring the younger generation to carry forward the values of unity, service and nation-building.
