Ladakh Tribal Foundation organizes brainstorming session at ARTO Office, Kargil.
Kargil, Feb 10, 2024:n Ladakh Tribal Foundation in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kargil and the Transport Department, Kargil organized a comprehensive brainstorming session at ARTO Office, Kargil today.
The session was organized as part of a series of awareness programmes of the ongoing Road Safety Month being held from 15th January to 14th February. The session aimed to delve into root causes of accidents, identify key areas for improvement and collaborate on implementing effective plans and next steps.
The session was attended by Joint Director, Information, Ladakh, Imteeaz Kacho as chief guest, LAHDC Councillor Saliskote, Sajjad Khan as guest of honour, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Kargil, Khadim Hussain, District Youth Officer, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kargil Jigmat Spaldon, DTI Kargil Mohd Nissar, representatives from Army, Chairman, Ladakh Tribal Foundation, Khadim Purgi, General Secretary Mohd Fataullah, and other stakeholders, speakers and students from Digital Computers.
Speaking on the occasion, Joint Director, Information, Ladakh, Imteeaz Kacho thanked the Transport Department, Nehru Yuva Kendra and Ladakh Tribal Foundation as well as other stakeholders for organizing such a crucial and thought provoking awareness programme. He highlighted the importance of collective efforts in ensuring road safety and immense behavioral change while emphasizing the need for continuously conducting similar awareness campaigns to instill a sense of responsibility among each citizen of Kargil. He endorsed the fact that school curriculum should be loaded with practical lessons on traffic rules and responsible behaviour. He also lauded the efforts of each personnel of Traffic Police who are thoroughly dedicated towards ensuring smooth flow of traffic.
While speaking on the occasion, LAHDC Councilor of Saliskote, Sajjad Khan highlighted the significance of the event during the Road Safety Month. He stressed the need for community engagement and innovative solutions to address road safety challenges effectively. He said such programs will help to develop discipline among the general public and avoid fatal accidents and save precious lives.
ARTO Kargil urged the public to prioritize public transport over private vehicles for safer roads. He also highlighted the importance of sustainable driving practices.
During the session, many others also spoke and shared their views with the participants. Participants discussed to identify the causes of accidents in Ladakh. Factors lime infrastructure deficiencies, reckless driving, behavior, and lack of awareness emerged as key areas requiring attention.
During the interactive sessions, participants identified specific areas for improvement, including road maintenance, driver training programs and public awareness campaigns. They stressed on implementing targeted interventions to address these areas effectively.
