    Says exposure tour will foster cultural awareness, understanding of their heritage
    Lauds Indian Army for providing quality education to children.
    Leh, Oct 30: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Kavinder Gupta, today interacted with students and teachers of Army Goodwill School, Harka Bahadur, Kargil, who are in Leh from October 28 till 31 for an integration tour organised by 30 Rajput.
    The Lt Governor appreciated the Indian Army for organising the exposure tour for students of Army Goodwill School, Harka Bahadur, emphasising that it would help them gain deeper insights into Ladakh’s rich history and vibrant culture. He further said that such initiatives play a vital role in broadening students’ horizons, fostering national integration, and strengthening the bond between the Army and the local communities.
    Emphasising the need to ensure holistic development of students, the Lt Governor stressed that exposure tours and visit to places of historical importance will connect classroom learning to real-world experience, and promote cultural awareness, respect for different perspectives, and a deeper, personal understanding of their heritage.
    Earlier, Subedar Mahesh Kumar apprised that 20 students along with teachers from Army Goodwill School, Harka Bahadur- named after Subedar Harka Bahadur Rana, a Gorkha hero who was awarded the Military Cross (MC) for his bravery in the 1948 Indo-Pakistani War in Kargil- are in Leh for an exposure visit during which they will be taken to Shanti Stupa, Zorawar Fort, Hall of Fame, Magnetic Hall, Sangam Point (Confluence of Zanskar-Indus River) and Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre (LSRC).
    Subedar Mahesh informed that the Army Goodwill School, Harka Bahadur is managed by the Indian Army and extra-curricular activities are promoted for the holistic development of students. He also informed that a Community Radio Station has also been set up by the Indian Army to meet the aspirations and requirements of the local community. He also apprised about the bus facilities being provided by the Indian Army to ferry students from Drass and other far-off places.
    Students and teachers of Army Goodwill School, Harka Bahadur, appreciated the Indian Army for providing them with quality education and facilities at the school and also for organising the exposure tour for them. They requested the Indian Army to upgrade the school from Class 10 up to Class 12 so that students do not have to move to other schools for higher education. They also requested a hostel facility at the school.
