Shri Kavinder Gupta welcomes Peace Leadership Programme for Ladakhi Youth
Says such programme beneficial for holistic development of Ladakhi youth.
Pune: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of UT Ladakh, Shri Kavinder Gupta, met renowned Indian educationist, visionary thinker, and founder of MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU), Dr. Vishwanath Karad, along with Dr. Rahul V. Karad, Managing Trustee & Executive President, MAEER’s MIT Group of Institutions in Pune.
Dr. Rahul V. Karad apprised the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor about various academic, research, and value-based initiatives being undertaken at MIT-WPU. He also briefed him about the Life Transformation Centre functioning within the university, which focuses on holistic development, leadership, ethics, and self-awareness among students.
Dr. Rahul Karad further proposed a Peace Leadership Programme for students from the Union Territory of Ladakh, suggesting the participation of 200 students—100 each from Leh and Kargil districts. The programme aims to nurture young leaders with a strong foundation in peace, values, leadership skills, and social responsibility.
The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor appreciated the contributions of Dr. Vishwanath Karad and Dr. Rahul Karad in redefining education through the integration of knowledge, values, and spirituality. He welcomed the proposal for the Peace Leadership Programme and stated that such initiatives would be highly beneficial for the youth of Ladakh, helping them become responsible citizens and future leaders while preserving the region’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
Shri Kavinder Gupta emphasised the importance of value-based education, especially for students from remote and border areas, and expressed hope for meaningful collaboration between the UT Administration of Ladakh and MIT-WPU in the future for the holistic development of Ladakhi youth.
