    Liyaqat Ali & entrepreneur Tashi Namgyal call on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd).

    Leh, Feb 06, 2025: Liyaqat Ali from Chuchot Shamma, who runs Easy Lock Tiles, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Advisor to the HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG, Dr L Franklin, IAS and Director, Industries and Commerce, Ladakh, Sheikh Nazir, JKAS, were present in the meeting.
    Liyaqat informed the HLG that his late mother, Razia Bano, was running an MSME manufacturing unit at Chuchot under PM Employment Generation Programme, for which she was granted a composite loan of Rs 19 lakhs by District Industries Centre (DIC). He also informed the HLG about the hardships faced by the family in the wake of spread of Covid-19 due to which they had to sell land to pay loans on time. He further informed about another setback in the form of the untimely demise of his mother which led to financial complications as the unit was registered in his mother’s name.
    Liyaqat apprised the HLG of the efforts made by him to change the proprietorship of the unit in his name along with the rejection faced by him from DIC Office to take loan for expansion of the unit despite paying loans on time. He requested the HLG’s intervention in expanding the unit by availing loans in his own name under PMEGP.
    Advisor to the HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS, spoke to the concerned KVIC (Khadi and Village Industries Commission), who informed that the applicant needs to fill out a form so that the applicant’s case for subsidy and other benefits can be progressed.
    The HLG directed Director, Industries and Commerce, Sheikh Nazir, JKAS, to assist Liyaqat in filling up the form and share the said form with the concerned official to resolve the issue at the earliest.
    In another meeting, Entrepreneur Tashi Namgyal called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Advisor to the HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG, Dr L Franklin, IAS and Director, Industries and Commerce, Sheikh Nazir, JKAS, were present in the meeting.
    Tashi Namgyal informed the HLG that he is among the pioneers of startups in Ladakh, with his company employing around 150 youth. He also informed the HLG about his other projects, including leading Social, Emotional and Ethical Learning (SEE) Learning initiative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in the trans-Himalayan areas; establishing International Institute for Culture and Ethics in Ladakh, etc.
    Tashi Namgyal requested the HLG’s intervention in allocating 20 kanal industrial land in the industrial estate at Phyang along with providing uninterrupted power supply, accessible road, water and garbage collection for the unit. He also informed that he is currently operating the unit from private land without uninterrupted power supply, water and accessible road.
    The HLG asked Director, Industries and Commerce, Sheikh Nazir, JKAS, to inspect Tashi Namgyal’s site from which he is currently operating his unit and submit a report on basic facilities required at the site such as power supply, water, accessible road and sanitation and frame a policy to encourage upcoming startups from Ladakh like Tashi Namgyal’s.
