    Leh, June 23, 2026: The 30th edition of the Sindhu Darshan Yatra and the inaugural Pratham Sindhu Kumbh 2026 commenced with great fervour and spiritual enthusiasm at the historic Sindhu Ghat in Leh on Tuesday. The five-day celebration, being organised by the Sindhu Darshan Yatra Samiti, will continue until June 27, bringing together devotees, spiritual leaders, dignitaries, and visitors from across the country.
    The inaugural ceremony was attended by the Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Smt. Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya, who joined thousands of devotees in celebrating India’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage. The event is being organised under the theme “One India, Shreshtha Bharat”, reflecting the values of national unity, cultural diversity, and social harmony.
    A grand Kalash Yatra, carrying sacred waters from different parts of the country, marked the beginning of the celebrations. Devotees ceremonially offered the holy waters to the sacred Sindhu River, symbolising national integration and the spiritual bond that unites people across regions, languages, and traditions.
    The event witnessed vibrant cultural performances by artists from various states, showcasing India’s diverse cultural traditions and reinforcing the message of unity in diversity.
    Participants from across the country, along with domestic and international visitors, took part in the celebrations.
    The programme was graced by the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, spiritual leaders, public representatives, and several distinguished guests, including former Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC Leh Tashi Gyalson, His Eminence Palga Rinpoche, Vijender Gupta, Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, renowned spiritual leader Swami Avdheshanand Giri Ji Maharaj, Dr. Indresh Kumar, and other eminent personalities.
    Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor welcomed the devotees to Ladakh and highlighted the historical and civilisational significance of the Sindhu River, one of the world’s oldest and most revered rivers. He noted that the Sindhu Darshan Yatra, initiated in 1997, has emerged as a powerful symbol of national unity and cultural pride, connecting people from all parts of the country through a shared heritage.
    The Lieutenant Governor also underlined Ladakh’s remarkable developmental transformation in recent years, particularly in infrastructure, road connectivity, telecommunications, tourism, and sustainable development initiatives.
    He urged visitors to preserve Ladakh’s fragile ecosystem by maintaining cleanliness and respecting the region’s environmental regulations, including the ban on single-use plastic.
    Speaking on the occasion, Vijender Gupta said that the Sindhu Darshan Yatra continues to strengthen the emotional and cultural bond among the people of India and has grown into a significant national event over the years.
    Spiritual leaders participating in the event highlighted the timeless message of peace, harmony, mutual respect, and cultural coexistence embodied by the Sindhu civilisation. They emphasised that the festival serves as a platform to celebrate India’s spiritual legacy while fostering national integration and collective progress.
    The Pratham Sindhu Kumbh 2026 is expected to witness participation from thousands of devotees, tourists, scholars, and cultural representatives over the coming days, reaffirming the significance of the sacred Sindhu River as a symbol of India’s enduring civilisational heritage and unity.
