    MP Ladakh chairs Airport Advisory Committee KBR Airport Leh Meeting.

    Leh, November 23, 2024: Hon’ble Member of Parliament Mohmad Haneefa Jan chaired a meeting with Airport Advisory Committee, KBR Airport, Leh to review the works and progress of new airport at the conference Hall, DC office, Leh on November 23.
    The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve; SSP Leh Shruti Arora; APD, AAI, KBR Airport Leh Ramandeep Singh Saini; AOC, 21Wing, IAF, Leh; GM Project Leh A. Umasankar, Executive Officer Municipal Committee, Leh; Station Manager, Air India, Leh; Station Manager, Spice Jet; Leh, Station Manager, Indigo Airlines, Leh; President Hotel/Guest House Association, Leh; President All Ladakh,Tour Operators Association; General Secretary All Ladakh,Tour Operators Association and other members and stakeholders.
    During the meeting, President All Ladakh Hotel/ Guest House Association and General Secretary All Ladakh Tour Operators Association apprised the Member of Parliament and other officials about various issues such as Bay Capacity, Additional bay during peak season, special guests services, proper waiting area for drivers/ travel agents, sanitation and maintenance during winter season, simplification of tender process for local entrepreneurs at the new airport, proper medical assistance for tourist, introduction of new technology to scan passports instead of filling Form C and others.
    APD, AAI, KBR Airport Leh Ramandeep Singh Saini brief about the various steps taken on the issues that was raised during the meeting. He also updated the status of Thoise airport where UT administration and Airforce are in talk. GM Project Leh A. Umasankar gave a detailed report on the status of the new airport. He highlighted that the target time to finish the project is by October 2025, but they are expected to finish the project two months prior i.e. by August 2025. AOC, 21Wing, IAF, Leh spoke about the bays and said that two bays are fully dedicated to private aircrafts. They are willing to provide the 3rd bay only for special requirements or emergencies otherwise they cannot provide the 3rd bay.
    Members actively contributed valuable suggestions and feedback during the meeting, fostering collaboration among stakeholders. Hon’ble MP Mohmad Haneefa Jan desired to visit the airport and take stock of various issues raised during the meeting.
