    NCW organised awareness training on sexual harassment of Women at workplace.

    Leh, July 17: National Commission for Women (NCW) organised an awareness training on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal Act, 2013) for government employees of Leh district at DC Conference Hall.
    District Social Welfare Officer, Nilza Angmo welcomed the team from NCW.
    The purpose of the training was to acquaint the employees from different departments with Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) rules and to increase awareness among them.
    Psychologist, Shirisha Sathe in an interactive session presented presentation and briefed on the evolution of PoSH Act and meaning of Sexual Harassment at workplace with the help of various case studies. She explained the types of sexual harassment and stressed on the impact of such behavior upon women along with the need for educating oneself. In addition to that, she explained the redressal procedure for filling the complaint to Internal Committee (IC) by aggrieved women and also the responsibility of the organisation in handling such cases.
    DSW officer, Nilza Angmo presented the vote of thanks and mentioned that while cases of Sexual harassment are rare in the region but it is not non-existent. Additionally, she informed that, although 50% of the workforce are women in the region yet there’s a lack of understanding about the laws related to PoSH and procedures that needed to be followed. While thanking the team for an amazing session she reiterated that the training will raise awareness among the employees and succor them in the long run. She further thanked the staff for actively participating in the training.
    Employees from different departments of Leh district were part of the training.
