Nyoma, April 29, 2026:
Shri Nitish Rajora, IAS, today assumed charge as the Deputy Commissioner of Changthang, while Shri Abbas Jaffari, JKPS, joined as the Superintendent of Police, Changthang.
On their arrival, both officers were accorded a warm reception by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Nyoma, Shri Kacho Asgar Ali, along with Heads of various Departments, local representatives, and officials. The officers were received at Nyoma village, where SDM Nyoma , HOD of various departments along with staff members, Nambardars, presidents of various associations, and residents extended a cordial welcome.
A ceremonial Guard of Honour was presented by the Ladakh Police. This was followed by a programme at the Deputy Commissioner Office Complex.
Upon assuming charge, the Deputy Commissioner congratulated the residents of Changthang on the attainment of district status and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening governance, ensuring effective implementation of government programmes and schemes, and improving public service delivery. He emphasized the importance of working diligently towards developing Changthang into a fully functional district while addressing the aspirations of its people.
The reception was marked by the presence of prominent community leaders and representatives, including the Venerable Chakzot of Korzok Monastery, the President of Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA)
Nyoma, respected Nambardars, former Councillors of Changthang, and people from adjoining areas.
