One Day Training Camp on NFSM–Wheat Conducted at Likir on 5 March2026.
A one-day training camp under the National Food Security Mission – Wheat (NFSM–Wheat) was successfully organized by the Agriculture Department at Likir village on March 5, 2026. The programme focused on farmer awareness and capacity building regarding the importance of Rajma, Mustard, Wheat and the adoption of the latest agricultural technologies. Approximately 70 farmers from Likir village actively participated in the training camp.
The training session was led by Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer Mr. Mohd Ramzan, Agriculture Extension Officer Leh Ms. Tsering Dolkar, Junior Agriculture Extension Officer Ms.Stanzin Idong, Junior Agriculture Extension Officer Ms. Ishey Dolma, and Junior Agriculture Extension Officer Ms. Deachen Angmo.
The programme covered various important topics, including:
Package of Practices for Ladakh Greenhouse cultivation
Preparation and benefits of vermicompost and use of drip/sprinkler irrigation.
Importance of Natural Farming and Organic Farming
Significance of Rajma, wheat and Mustard cultivation under NFSM–Wheat
Benefits of mulching in moisture conservation and yield enhancement
Seed production technology for quality seed multiplication
During the session, farmers were also informed about various departmental schemes and subsidies available to support and strengthen their agricultural activities.
The interactive session enabled farmers to clarify their doubts and enhanced their understanding of sustainable agricultural practices suited to the agro-climatic conditions of Ladakh. The training concluded with an assurance of continued technical support from the Agriculture Department for improving productivity and promoting self-reliance among farmers.
