    Khaltsi, September 17, 2026: A Padyatra was organised today at the District Headquarters, Sham, as part of the UT-wide Drug Awareness Campaign under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner, Sham, Smt. Kunzes Angmo (JKAS).
    The programme commenced with the Deputy Commissioner administering the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) pledge against drug abuse, which was collectively taken by all participants. This was followed by a mega awareness rally from Khaltsi Bus Stand to Zerthang Photang, with participants raising awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting the message of a drug-free society.
    The Padyatra witnessed active participation from I/c Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Khaltsi, Shri Attahullah Khan; officers and officials from various departments at District Headquarters Sham; staff and students of Government Higher Secondary School Khaltsi; staff and students of Government Middle School Khaltsi; staff and students of Lamdon Jamyang School; students and staff of Moravain Academy School, Khaltsi; and representatives of local communities.
    The participants carried messages of awareness and prevention, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in addressing drug abuse and protecting the younger generation from its harmful physical, psychological and social consequences.
    The event conveyed a strong message of solidarity, community participation and collective responsibility against drug abuse, reaffirming the commitment of District Sham towards achieving the goal of a Drug-Free Sham.
