Pre-Campaign to World Environment Day Held at Kargil by Department of Forest, Ecology and Environment

Kargil, June 4, 2025 — In the lead-up to World Environment Day, the Wildlife Protection Division Kargil, in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services and Sports Kargil, successfully organized a pre-campaign event at Kurbathang Astro Turf early this morning. The event was themed “Ending Plastic Pollution”, highlighting the need for sustainable practices and responsible environmental stewardship.
The primary aim of the event was to promote a healthy lifestyle and raise awareness about eco-friendly habits and sustainable development. Participants were encouraged to adopt environmentally conscious behaviours and reduce plastic usage.
The event was graced by Assistant Director Information and Wildlife Warden, Raza Ali Abidi with officials from both the Wildlife Protection Division and the Department of Youth Services and Sports. Students from various schools across Kargil also actively participated in the program.
The event began with a pledge on the importance of eco-friendly living, setting a reflective tone for the day. This was followed by a yoga session led by Mr Abass Physical Education Lecturer, who engaged the audience in yoga exercises and emphasized the significance of physical well-being and its connection to nature.
The students took part in a variety of fun and engaging activities with great enthusiasm including 200-meter race (boys and girls), sack race, lemon and spoon race, musical chair competition, double-leg race etc.
The energy and participation of the students reflected their commitment to the cause, making the event a vibrant and impactful precursor to World Environment Day.
