    (Meeting of the UT Level Steering Committee on ‘Implementation of Three New Laws in the Union Territory of Ladakh’)

    Dr. Pawan Kotwal IAS, Advisor to Hon’ble LG/ Administrative Secretary, Home Department UT Ladakh, along with Dr. S.D Singh Jamwal IPS, ADGP UT Ladakh, chaired a meeting of the UT Level Steering Committee on the “Implementation of Three New Laws in the Union Territory of Ladakh” on 27th February 2024.

    The meeting focused on the implementation of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2024; Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2024; and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam Bill, 2024, within the Union Territory of Ladakh.

    In attendance were esteemed officers, including Smt. Padma Angmo IIS, Commissioner Secretary, Information/ Higher Education Department; Commissioner Secretary, Law & Justice Department; Shri Michael M. D’Souza, IAS Administrative Secretary, General Administration Department UT Ladakh; Sh. Safdar Ali, Director Finance; Sh Mohd Rouf Wani, State Informatics Officer; Sh Tahir Mahajan, Director NIC (Virtual Mode) , and other key stakeholders. Additionally, top brass from various departments, such as Finance, Police, Prosecution and Prison, contributed their expertise to ensure a comprehensive approach to the implementation process.

    ICJS application of National Informatics Centre (NIC) that has various pillars like eCourt, ePrison, eProsecution, eForensic (coming up in Ladakh) and CCTNS (third party support), was thoroughly discussed during the meeting. It was impressed that to have the system functional as soon as possible.

    The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Sh. Ishtiyaq Ahmad Kacho, AIG (CIV) PHQ UT Ladakh & member convener of the committee. His heartfelt appreciation for the collaborative efforts and steadfast dedication resonated with all participants, underscoring the shared commitment towards achieving committee’s objectives.

    This collaborative endeavor underscores UT Ladakh administration’s dedication to upholding the rule of law and fostering inclusive development across the region.
