Public Outreach Camp at Rumbak Village under the “Mimangs-Si-sJabstogs” Initiative.
A public outreach camp was organized at Rumbak village under the “Mimangs-Si-sJabstogs” (Administration at Your Doorstep) initiative, aimed at bringing essential government services directly to the villagers. The camp saw active participation from the community, and Shabir Hussain, (ACR, Leh)Nodal Officer, expressed his gratitude to the residents for engaging in the process. In his address, he highlighted the importance of such outreach initiatives in addressing public grievances and resolving issues at the grassroots level.
The main focus of the camp was to tackle a range of issues faced by the villagers. ACR Leh explained that land-related matters, including land mutation and compensation for land taken during road construction, were major concerns for the residents. He took responsibility and assured the villagers that these issues would be addressed in collaboration with the concerned departments. Many households also raised concerns about pending compensation for land taken for road-building purposes, as well as issues with land extension (Aabadi).
Apart from land-related issues, several other key matters were discussed. The villagers raised concerns related to electricity connectivity, particularly for one household in Yurutse, which is still awaiting a connection. Telecommunications also remained a challenge, with many villagers requesting the restoration of the non-functioning BSNL tower. Furthermore, the need for better flood control measures along river channels, especially in relation to road construction, was emphasized by the concerned departments.
A key aspect of the outreach initiative was raising awareness about various government schemes. Officers from the Power Development Department (PDD) promoted the Rooftop Solar Subsidy Scheme, encouraging villagers to take advantage of the subsidy offered by both the UT Administration and the central government. Additionally, the camp addressed ongoing issues under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), which aims to provide safe drinking water to rural households. The Labour Department and Cooperative Department briefed the villagers on employment opportunities through MGNREGA, as well as cooperative schemes designed to support local livelihoods.
BPL (Below Poverty Line) and APL (Above Poverty Line) categorization issues were also raised by several villagers, who requested clarification and assistance in accessing welfare benefits. Furthermore, concerns about road connectivity, especially in rural areas, were discussed, with an emphasis on improving access and infrastructure for remote villages like Rumbak.
ACR Leh, Shabir Hussain, urged the concerned departments to prepare detailed reports addressing the grievances raised during the camp and explaining how these issues were resolved. These reports will be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Leh for prompt action. He further stressed the importance of ensuring that these concerns are resolved in a timely and efficient manner, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to serving the public through such outreach initiatives.
ACR leh visited the drip irrigation based cultivated site of village Rumbak near Phey Village. The area is cultivated through drip irrigation and an approximate area of 500 Canal has been successfully cultivated with the help of various departments like horticulture, rural development and IWMP.
The “Mimangs-Si-sJabstogs” initiative proved to be an effective platform for connecting the government with the people, fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by the villagers, and offering a way forward to resolve them.
