SDM Nubra Chairs Meeting on Karakoram Wildlife Sanctuary.
Nubra, September 16, 2026: Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Nubra, Shri Mohd Safdar Bhat, JKAS, convened a meeting today regarding the Karakoram (Nubra-Shyok) Wildlife Sanctuary at the Conference Hall of the SDM Office Complex, Nubra.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on various issues concerning the Karakoram Wildlife Sanctuary in Nubra District. The SDM Nubra, who has been appointed as the Collector cum Settlement Officer for the purpose of inquiring into and determining the existence, nature and extent of rights of persons over land comprised within the limits of the Sanctuary, reviewed the requisite proceedings in this regard.
The meeting also discussed the completion of statutory proceedings and the preparation and submission of relevant records and maps to the competent authority, besides rationalisation of the Sanctuary boundaries and determination of rights within the notified limits of the Sanctuary.
The meeting was attended by Tehsildars Sumoor/Diskit, former Councillors of Nubra, Forest and Wildlife Department officials including the Range Officer, Patwaris and Revenue Department officials, religious heads and other stakeholders from Nubra District.
