    SDM Nyoma Leads Padayatra Under ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’.
    NYOMA, SEPTEMBER 17, 2026: As part of the UT-wide Drug Awareness Campaign and the 6th Anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, a Padayatra (awareness march) was organized at Nyoma today to raise awareness against drug abuse and reaffirm the administration’s collective commitment towards building a Drug-Free Ladakh.
    The rally was led by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Nyoma, Sh. Anjil Singh, JKAS, in the presence of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Changthang, Sh. Zaher Abbas Jafferi, JKPS. The event saw active participation from officers and officials of various government departments, police personnel, school students, and members of the general public.
    Carrying placards and raising slogans against substance abuse, participants marched from the SDM Office to the District Magistrate Office, Nyoma. The rally conveyed a strong message regarding the hazardous social and health effects of drug abuse, emphasizing the need for prevention, early intervention, and active community participation.
    During the event, the Nasha Mukt Bharat pledge was administered to all participants, reinforcing the shared responsibility of creating a drug-free society.
    Addressing the gathering, SSP Changthang, Sh. Zaher Abbas Jafferi, highlighted the severe consequences of substance abuse on individuals and society. He urged the youth, parents, educational institutions, and civil society to collaborate closely with law enforcement and local administration to prevent drug misuse and foster a safe, healthy environment across the region.
