    SDM Zanskar Flags Off Swachhata Hi Seva Drive in Padum

    Zanskar, October 1, 2025: Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Zanskar, Omkar Rajendra Gundage, IAS, flagged off the Swachhata Hi Seva cleanliness drive today at Dak Bungalow in Padum, Zanskar.
    The event saw enthusiastic participation from Sub-Divisional Officers, officials of various departments, members of the Merchant Association, and representatives of the Contractor Association.
    Participants were divided into department-wise groups to focus on key areas, including the Ashoka Pillar, Old Padum, and Khisharak, before reconvening at the Dak Bungalow.
    Block Medical Officer, Zanskar, provided gloves and masks to participants, underlining the importance of safety during the drive. Block Development Officers from Zanskar, Karsha, and Lungnak supervised the efforts.
    Speaking on the occasion, SDM Gundage thanked the participants and emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness for the health of residents, tourism promotion, and sustainable development in Zanskar.
    He noted that Swachhata Hi Seva is a nationwide campaign running from September 17 to October 2, 2025, culminating on Swachh Bharat Diwas, observed on Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary.
    The campaign promotes collective action for cleanliness, involving citizens, government officials, and organizations. Its activities include transforming neglected spaces, supporting sanitation workers (Safai Mitras), and encouraging eco-friendly practices.
