    The Secretary, Higher Education UT Ladakh, Ms.Bhanu Prabha, IAS conducted an official visit to Government Degree College (GDC) Nobra on 22nd April to review the overall functioning of the institution, with a particular focus on student enrolment, academic performance, and infrastructural development.
    During the visit, the Secretary accompanied by SDM Nubra, XEN Nubra, CEO Leh, held a detailed interaction with the local stakeholders including the Goba members of Nubra Valley, Principal, faculty members, students and administrative staff to critically assess current enrolment trends and strategies adopted to enhance student intake in peripheral regions. Strong emphasis was laid on ensuring greater access to higher education in the region, especially for students from remote areas.
    Principal GDC Nobra, Rigzin Sandup gave a detailed presentation on the enrolment drives, academic and infrastructural facilities of the institution. Subsequently, the academic framework of the college was also reviewed, including the implementation of the curriculum, and student support systems. Faculty members apprised the Secretary of ongoing academic activities, challenges faced, and initiatives undertaken to improve learning outcomes.
    A comprehensive inspection of the college infrastructure, new construction units, and other essential amenities was also carried out. The Secretary appreciating the initiatives; acknowledged the progress made while also identifying areas that require further strengthening to meet evolving educational needs.
    The Secretary reiterated the government’s commitment to improving the quality of higher education in the region and assured necessary support for the upgradation of facilities and academic resources at GDC Nobra.
    The visit concluded with directions to the college administration to continue striving for academic excellence and to actively work towards enhancing enrolment and infrastructural standards in the region.
