Secretary, Shashanka Ala visits new RDD building in Kargil; stressed for early takeover.
Kargil, November 22, 2025: Administrative Secretary, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (RD&PR), UT Ladakh, Ms. Shashanka Ala, IAS, visited the newly constructed RDD Building Complex today and reviewed its overall status. She was accompanied by Executive Engineer, CPWD, Shri Abhishek Kumar Singh, and interacted with the engineers and the contractor involved in the project to take updates on the remaining works.
She observed that the building is almost ready for use and stressed the need for its early takeover. She inspected the entry point, various office rooms, and the 180-seater multipurpose hall, checking lighting and other essential facilities.
She instructed that proper amenities for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) must be ensured. She also directed that the reception table, which is yet to be completed, be finished at the earliest.
Ms. Ala instructed CPWD to complete the takeover process by next week and make the building fully functional by the end of this month. She mentioned that the inauguration of the complex is planned to be held by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor around December 15.
She further asked the concerned departments to fix minor pending issues such as the tiles at the main entrance and the remaining work in the top-floor, washrooms on priority to ensure administrative coordination and smooth functioning once the building becomes operational.
