Secretary, Tourism reviews developmental works at Kargil

Kargil, Dec 14, 2022: Secretary, Tourism, Culture, Labour and Employment, UT Ladakh, Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan on Monday chaired a review meeting related to progress on ongoing works (physical and financial) of various departments at Kargil Development Authority Office (KDA), Kargil.
ACD, Kargil, Ghulam Muhammad; Assistant Labour Commissioner; Razia Banoo; Deputy Director (Employment), Kargil, Iftikhar Ahmed; AD (Tourism), Aga Syed Toha; Executive Engineer (REW); Executive Engineer (KDA); Senior Librarian, District Library besides other concerned officers were present during the meeting.
During the meeting, the Secretary took review of the detailed status of physical and financial progress achieved on all the ongoing works.
He directed ACD, Kargil and Executive Engineer (REW) to submit a detailed report of status of progress (physical & financial) of the ongoing works on Labour Sarais at different locations and status of tender and allotment of balance works related to these projects. The Secretary directed REW to complete these projects by May 2023.
The Secretary stressed upon the concerned officers to speed up the pace of booking of expenditure against the physical achievements reported so far.
While prioritizing labour rights of the labourers working in Kargil, the Secretary directed ALC, Kargil to ensure that all facilities and safeguards should be ensured by the employers as per provisions of the labour laws.
Secretary, Khan also took review of status of undergoing works in the Tourism Department and directed the AD, Tourism and KDA officers to expedite the process of payment against the physical achievements reported so far and expedite preparation of DPR for new works planned to be undertaken in the year 2023-24.
Later, he inspected the ongoing construction work at Tourist Facilitation Centre (TFC), Kargil. He directed the concerned officers to ensure completion of this project by May 2023 without compromising with the quality and quantity of the planned work.
The Secretary emphasised on the officers to ensure upkeep and safety of public property. He showed his unhappiness at damage caused to public property by children or miscreants for leisure (breaking of electric lamps at public places etc.). These are public property and it is the duty of the concerned departments and as well of the society to protect them.
He directed the concerned officers to take immediate measures to ensure their safety through installation of CCTV cameras at appropriate locations.
Secretary, Tourism also inspected the ongoing work at riverfront near Bulbul-Bagh. He directed the concerned officers to complete this project by May 2023 without compromising with the quality and quantity of the planned work.
