An opportunity for Ladakh’s youth to contribute towards Viksit Ladakh: Bhanu Prabha.
Leh, 1 Sept 2026: Secretary, Education/ Youth Services & Sports, Bhanu Prabha, today addressed a press conference and highlighted the key features of the LG Yuva Internship Programme, an initiative aimed at providing the youth of Ladakh an opportunity to engage with the UT Administration and contribute meaningfully to the development of the UT.
The LG Yuva Internship Portal, launched on August 22, 2026, has been designed to facilitate the participation of young people in the functioning of the administration and provide them with practical exposure to governance and public service.
Addressing the media, the Secretary said that the LG Yuva Internship Programme is in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to see India emerge as a Viksit Bharat by 2047. She added that the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh envisages realising the vision of a Viksit Ladakh even before 2047 by ensuring the active participation of youth and local communities in the development process.
She informed that the programme provides an equal opportunity to youth, with no age or qualification bar, to work with the UT Administration across 25 departments for a period of three months.
Selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 during the internship.
The applicants will have the option to select up to five preferred departments based on their interests, skills, and qualifications. They will also have the flexibility to choose their preferred district for undertaking the internship.
Highlighting another important feature of the programme, the Secretary said that interns will be awarded an experience certificate upon successful completion of their internship. She emphasised that the programme will provide young people with valuable practical knowledge of the functioning of government departments and an opportunity to understand governance and public service delivery at both administrative and field level.
She further stated that the participation of interns would not only help enrich service delivery but also enable them to offer suggestions and innovative ideas for further improving the delivery mechanisms within the administration. At the same time, the experience gained through the programme would strengthen their professional profiles and enhance their future career opportunities.
The Secretary appealed to all eligible youth of Ladakh to make full use of this unique opportunity and register on the LG Yuva Internship Portal at internship.ladakh.gov.in by September 6, 2026, which is the last date for submission of applications.
She urged the younger generation to participate actively in the programme, stressing that their talent, knowledge, energy, and aspirations are essential to transforming the vision of Viksit Ladakh into reality. She said that meaningful youth participation would ensure that the younger generation becomes an integral part of Ladakh’s development journey and contributes to building a progressive, inclusive, and self-reliant Union Territory.
