    Silk Route Festival 2026 Celebrated at Sumoor, Nubra.
    Nubra, June 26, 2026: The Silk Route Festival 2026 was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Sumoor, Nubra, showcasing the region’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant traditions.
    Deputy Commissioner Nubra, Shri Mukul Beniwal, IAS, attended the event as the Chief Guest, while Superintendent of Police Nubra, Shri Stanzin Losal, JKPS, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nubra, Shri Jigmet Raftan, JKAS, graced the occasion as Guests of Honour.
    Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the Silk Route Festival is a celebration of Nubra’s rich cultural heritage, traditions, and historical significance. He also appealed to the public to support the ban on Single-Use Plastic (SUP) and adopt environmentally responsible practices to keep the district clean, green, and sustainable.
    Speaking on the occasion, the Superintendent of Police highlighted the growing concern of drug abuse among youth and urged parents, community leaders, and the public to remain vigilant, guide the younger generation, and work collectively towards building a drug-free Nubra.
    The festival featured vibrant cultural performances by local artists, reflecting the unique traditions and cultural diversity of the region. Exhibition stalls set up by the Village Lab Foundation and local exhibitors showcased traditional handicrafts, local products, and the unique cultural identity of Nubra.
    The event was attended by Tehsildar Sumoor, Shri Tashi Jorgais, heads of various departments, community leaders, tourists from various region, large gathering of local residents, whose enthusiastic participation contributed to the success of the festival.
