Singe Tsangspo Tsangde Lasgul – Clean Up Indus River Campaign” Successfully Conducted in Nyoma Sub Division.
Nyoma, August 12, 2025 – In a dedicated effort to preserve and rejuvenate the sacred waters of Indus River, a large-scale cleanliness drive titled “Singe Tsangspo Tsangde Lasgul” (Let’s Clean the Indus River) was successfully organized on 12th August 2025 in Nyoma sub division under the leadership of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kacho Asgar.
The campaign began with a pledge ceremony, where participants committed themselves to the cause of environmental conservation and the sustainable upkeep of the Indus River. SDM Nyoma emphasized the importance of preserving natural resources and maintaining ecological balance in the region. He urged all residents to treat the river with reverence and to continue community-led efforts to ensure its cleanliness for future generations.
The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation and key stakeholders, including Shri Ishey Spalzang, Hon’ble Councillor of Nyoma subdivision ,SHO Nyoma subdivision, Nambardars ,Head of various Departments ,various government officials ,BRO, and Indian Army. All participants came together in a united effort to clean and protect the bank of indus river. The drive spanned several locations along the Indus River within the Nyoma Sub Division and Collecting plastic and other waste and dumping it into the garbage truck for disposal at the dumping site.
The volunteers collected waste from various locations including the community, market area and bank of Indus River. The collected waste included plastic, discarded packaging materials, and other non-biodegradable items which pose serious threats to the local environment and wildlife.
At the conclusion of the event, refreshments were provided to all participants and SDM Nyoma expressed gratitude to everyone involved and encouraged continued community engagement in preserving the environment.
