    Special Drug Abuse Awareness Programme Organised at Gram Panchayat Saspol.
    Khaltse, June 16, 2026: A Special Drug Abuse Awareness Programme was successfully organised today at Gram Panchayat Saspol with active participation from the local community and various stakeholders. The programme aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promote collective efforts towards building a drug-free society.
    The programme was attended by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Liker, Shri Gurmeet Namgial; SHO Khaltse, Shri Tsewang Nurboo; Psychiatrist, Dr. Padma; Inspector, Skarma Angchuck; Panchayat Inspector, Saspol; Numberdars of Saspol and Liker; officials from the District Social Welfare Department (District Drug De-addiction Awareness Team); and Ms. Purnima from the Forensic Team.
    The programme commenced with a welcome address by the Numberdar of Saspol. During the awareness session, Dr. Padma elaborated on the adverse effects of drug abuse on individuals, families, and society. SHO Khaltse, Shri Tsewang Nurboo, highlighted the current scenario of drug-related crimes and stressed the importance of community participation in preventing substance abuse.
    Ms. Purnima from the Forensic Team provided valuable insights into various narcotic substances and their consequences. The District Drug De-addiction Awareness Team informed the participants about the importance of rehabilitation, counselling services, and the facilities available at de-addiction centres for individuals affected by substance abuse.
    Speaking on the occasion, SDM Liker, Shri Gurmeet Namgial, emphasized the need for collective responsibility and sustained awareness campaigns to safeguard the youth from the menace of drugs. He urged all stakeholders to work together in creating a healthy and drug-free environment in the region.
    The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Numberdar of Saspol, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, resource persons, and participants for their valuable contributions towards the success of the awareness programme.
