Stakeholders & UT Admin should work collectively for betterment of Ladakh people: LG Gupta.
Holds introductory meeting with Councillors of LAHDC Kargil, HoDs.
Kargil, July 27: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Kavinder Gupta, held an introductory meeting with Councillors of LAHDC Kargil at the Conference Hall. He also held an introductory meeting with the Head of Departments (HoDs) of various departments in Kargil district.
Reiterating his intent to fulfil the responsibilities entrusted to him by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India to meet the aspirations of the people of Ladakh, LG Gupta emphasised the collective effort of stakeholders and the UT Administration to work for the welfare of the people of Ladakh. He highlighted the need for broader outreach of centrally-sponsored schemes, including Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, for a better and educated society. He also asked Ladakh Police to take timely action to reduce cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Further reasserting his commitment to working for the welfare of people and the development of Ladakh, LG Gupta highlighted the need for the timely completion of project works, stating that he would review departmental works soon.
During the meeting, LG Gupta was briefed about various ongoing development projects in Kargil, along with various other developmental issues through a detailed PPT presentation.
Chairman/CEC, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, raised the issue of providing district status for Sankoo and Shakar-Chiktan, making funds allotted to Hill Councils for developmental works non-lapsable; extension of Kargil Airport and resumption of civilian flights at Kargil Airport, along with the conduct of the recruitment process to provide relief to unemployed youth, etc. Councillor Silmoo and former Chairman/CEC of LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan, highlighted the need to strengthen LAHDC as an institution and the need to implement the tourism policy.
Executive Councillor Phunsok Tashi highlighted the need for an increase in the Capex budget and the functioning of the Engineering College at the earliest.
In the introductory meeting with all Head of Departments (HoDs), Sectoral Heads and District Officers of Kargil district, Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, IAS, gave a detailed PPT presentation, highlighting various ongoing development projects in the district.
SSP Kargil, Shree Raam R, IPS, also gave a detailed presentation on the achievements and activities of the Ladakh Police.
