STOP Diarrhoea Campaign 2026–27 Awareness Programme Conducted at Schools of Sakti and ICDS Centres.
As part of the STOP Diarrhoea Campaign 2026–27, being observed from 10th July to 21st August 2026 under the directions of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, an awareness programme on the prevention and management of diarrhoea was successfully conducted by Dr. Jigmet Wangchuk, Medical Officer, AAM-PHC Sakti, along with Mrs. Palkit, FMPHW, and ASHAs at Manjushri Lamdon Model School, Sakti, PM SHRI Government Middle School, Sakti, and the adjoining attached ICDS Centres.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, Anganwadi Workers, ASHAs, and school staff, making the awareness sessions interactive and informative.
During the sessions, participants were educated on the causes, prevention, and early treatment of diarrhoeal diseases, particularly among children. The importance of safe drinking water, food hygiene, sanitation, water quality testing, and personal hygiene in preventing diarrhoeal illnesses was highlighted.
A special demonstration on SUMAN-K Hand Washing was conducted for all students and teachers. The participants were taught and practically demonstrated the correct steps of hand washing, ensuring proper cleaning of all parts of the hands. They were also sensitized on the critical times for hand washing.
Special emphasis was also laid on the correct preparation and administration of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and the importance of Zinc tablets in the treatment of childhood diarrhoea. The participants were informed that prompt use of ORS and Zinc helps prevent dehydration, shortens the duration of diarrhoea, and significantly reduces complications and child mortality.
To strengthen preparedness and ensure easy access to essential commodities, ORS and Zinc Corners were established at Manjushri Lamdon Model School, PM SHRI Government Middle School, Sakti, and the attached ICDS Centres. These corners have been equipped with ORS packets and Zinc tablets to facilitate prompt management of diarrhoeal cases and reinforce health education.
The awareness programme concluded with an appeal to all students, teachers, Anganwadi Workers, and community members to adopt healthy hygiene practices, promote hand washing with soap, ensure safe drinking water, and spread awareness on diarrhoea prevention and timely treatment in their families and communities. The initiative reflects the commitment of AAM-PHC Sakti towards improving child health and achieving the objectives of the STOP Diarrhoea Campaign 2026–27 under the slogan:
    “STOP Diarrhoea – Save Lives.”
