Thousands Gather in Deep Devotion on Sixth Day of Sacred Relics Veneration at Jivetsal.
Jivetsal, May 7: The sacred atmosphere at Jivetsal came alive with devotion and spiritual fervour as the sixth day of public veneration of the Sacred Relics of Lord Buddha witnessed an extraordinary gathering of devotees from across Leh district and adjoining settlements.
According to the Ladakh Buddhist Association Youth Wing, nearly 8,000 devotees visited the holy site on Thursday to receive blessings from the revered relics of the Tathagata. From the early hours of dawn until evening, devotees stood patiently in long queues, united in prayer, faith, and reverence.
The sixth day of the spiritual observance was marked by special prayers and sacred rituals conducted by respected monks from Korzok Monastery under the guidance of the Ladakh Gonpa Association. In a continuing spiritual initiative, monks representing 16 prominent monasteries of Ladakh are offering prayers on a rotational basis each day, creating an atmosphere of peace, compassion, and spiritual reflection for all devotees.
The smooth conduct of the large-scale gathering has been made possible through the dedicated efforts of volunteers from the Ladakh Buddhist Association Youth Wing, alongside personnel from the police, ITBP, and UTDRF. Their coordinated support has ensured effective crowd management and assistance for elderly and specially-abled devotees throughout the programme.
The Ladakh Buddhist Association, which is overseeing the event, has also implemented a village-wise visitation schedule to ensure that devotees from every region of Leh district are able to participate in an organised and inclusive manner.
Tomorrow, devotees belonging to the Tibetan, Tamang, and Sharpa communities, along with residents from areas extending up to Saspol, are scheduled to visit Jivetsal in Choglamsar to offer prayers and seek blessings.
The Sacred Relics will remain at Jivetsal for public veneration until May 10, after which they will be ceremonially taken to Zanskar on May 11 for the next phase of the spiritual journey.
