    Tribal Research Institute, Ladakh, UoL in collaboration with LAACL Kargil organize multi-lingual Mushaira on JanJatiya Gaurav Diwas

    Kargil, Nov 15, 2024: The Tribal Research Institute Ladakh & Department of Urdu, University of Ladakh in collaboration with Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture & Languages Kargil organized a multi-lingual Mushaira on the eve of JanJatiya Gaurav Diwas at Conference Hall, Kargil Campus, Khumbathang Kargil.
    Padma Shri Awardee, Akhone Asger Ali Basharat was the chief guest, with State Awardee Ghulam Ahmad Khan Jawan as the guest of honor, and Aga Raza Rezvi as the special guest.
    A large number of renowned poets from the region participated in the Mushaira, including Raza Amjad Badgami, Ashraf Ali Sagar, Gh. Qadir Zaki, Mohd Ali Ashur, Haji Ali Baba, Mohd Yaseen Ansari, Dr. Mohd Rafi, Mohd Ali Khumar, Mohd Hussain Fayaz, Fida Hussain Wazir Fida, Mohd Baqir Rafeeq, (Assistant Professor), Zakir Hussain Karbalai, Nissar Hussain, Sajad Ali Shujaat, Dr. Nissar (Assistant Professor), Tsewang Rigzin, Arif Hussain Ladakhi, Syed Kazim, and Gulzar Ziyan.
    The program was attended by staff and students from Kargil Campus and the Department of Urdu. The event featured a variety of poetic expressions, with poets performing in different languages, including Urdu, Balti, Purgi, and Shina, reflecting the rich cultural and linguistic heritage of Ladakh.
    Professor Dr. Jaffer Ali Khan welcomed all the guests, poets, and students. He emphasized the significance of organizing such events, particularly by the Tribal Research Institute, to highlight the cultural diversity and unity of the region. He also expressed gratitude to LAACL Kargil for their invaluable collaboration in making the Mushaira a success.
    The students of the Department of Urdu performed a welcome song to kick off the event.
    Akhone Asger Ali Basharat thanked the organizers, TRI, LAACL, and the Department of Urdu, UoL for bringing this important cultural event to Kargil Campus.
    He highlighted the importance of hosting such events in different locations to connect with diverse audiences. Basharat commended the inclusion of Urdu Department students, recognizing the positive impact such initiatives have in nurturing a love for poetry and enriching the students’ cultural understanding.
    The vote of thanks was presented by Tsewang Rigzin on behalf of LAACL, Kargil, marking the conclusion of the successful event. The proceedings were conducted by Ashraf Ali Sagar.
