Tsewang Dorjay, President of PAGIR call on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd).

Leh, 29 January, 2025: Tsewang Dorjay, President of the People Action Group of Inclusion and Rights (PAGIR), called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. During the meeting, Mr. Dorjay sought the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor’s assistance in the preparation for the Para Ice Hockey Girls Tournament.
Advisor to the HLG, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS; OSD to the Secretary Youth, Service, and Sports, Dr. Stanzin Thakchos; and the President of PAGIR, Mr. Tsewang Dorjay were present during the meeting.
Mr. Dorjay informed the HLG that the Para Ice Hockey Girls Tournament is scheduled to take place in Korea in the months of June and July. He requested assistance for the participation of the Para Ice Hockey Girls Team from Ladakh in the tournament, specifically in the registration of the Para Ice Hockey Association as a society and the procurement of equipment for training purposes.
In response, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor instructed the OSD to the Secretary Youth, Service, and Sports to visit and observe the games, assess the standard of practice and equipment, and make the necessary selections and preparations for the team. Additionally, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor directed the OSD to form a Federation and assist in the registration process through the Sports Authority of India and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Furthermore, a letter will be written to the Ministry to facilitate the team’s participation in the tournament in Korea.
The HLG instructed OSD Dr. Thakchos to submit a report on the matter to the Advisor to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor by 18 February 2025.
