Two-Day Science Workshop for Government School Teachers Begins at DIET Leh.
Leh, February 26: A two-day workshop on Science for Masters and Teachers of Government High and Middle Schools of Leh district commenced today at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Leh. The workshop aims to strengthen teachers’ subject knowledge, promote innovative pedagogical practices, and enhance classroom teaching–learning processes in science education with special emphasis on practical and activity based learning of Physics. The workshop was inaugurated by the Principal, DIET Leh, Sh. Mirza Mehdi and Head of department, DIET Leh, Smt. Tsering Yangdol. Principal DIET Leh warmly welcomed the resource person and participating teachers. In his inaugural address, he emphasized the importance of strengthening Science education through concept-based and activity-oriented teaching practices. He highlighted the need for integrating practical learning in classroom transactions to develop scientific temperament, curiosity, and problem-solving skills among students. He also encouraged teachers to adopt innovative and experiential approaches to make Physics learning more engaging and meaningful. Sh. Sandeep Singh Pathania, PGT (Physics), Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Leh, is serving as the resource person for the programme. During the workshop, he will conduct sessions on key Physics concepts, experiential and practical learning approaches, competency-based education, innovative teaching strategies, demonstration-based experiments and effective classroom assessment practices. The workshop will conclude on February 27, 2026. It is expected to equip participating teachers with updated methodologies and practical tools to improve students’ learning outcomes in science across the district
