DIET LEH: April 6–7, 2026:
A two-day Training-cum-Workshop on Foundational Learning Study (FLS) 2026 for District Level Coordinators and Field Investigators was successfully conducted at the Mini Hall of DIET Leh. The programme aimed to strengthen the capacity of field investigators and coordinators to conduct large-scale foundational learning assessments effectively.
Day–1: Inaugural Session (April 6, 2026)
The workshop commenced with a formal inaugural session held from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM, bringing together eminent dignitaries, education leaders, and participants from across the region. The session began with the felicitation of distinguished guests, including Shri G. Ramesh, Ms. Zoha Fatma, and Mr. Aniket. Traditional scarves were presented as a mark of respect and welcome, reflecting the rich cultural ethos of Ladakh.
The Welcome Address was delivered by the Principal of DIET Leh, who highlighted the significance of the Foundational Learning Study (FLS) 2026 in shaping evidence-based educational planning. The address emphasized the critical role of trained field investigators in ensuring the reliability and validity of assessment data. The Principal also expressed sincere gratitude for the guidance and support of Prof. Indrani Bhaduri, CEO PARAKH & Head Educational Survey Division, NCERT in making the programme more resourceful and impactful.
A key highlight of the session was the distribution of tablets to participants, led by Zakir Hussain, Joint Director School Education, UT Ladakh. This initiative underscored the programme’s focus on leveraging technology for seamless and efficient data collection during field assessments. Following this, Mr. Aniket presented an overview of FLS 2026, outlining its objectives, scope, and methodology.
In his Special Address, Shri G. Ramesh emphasized the importance of foundational literacy and numeracy as the cornerstone of quality education and appreciated the academic guidance of Dr. Indrani Bhaduri.
The Chief Guest Address by Zakir Hussain highlighted the government’s commitment to strengthening educational assessment systems and acknowledged the continuous support of Dr. Indrani Bhaduri.
The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Tsering Yangdol, who expressed sincere gratitude to all dignitaries and participants and acknowledged the valuable guidance of Dr. Indrani Bhaduri.
Following the inaugural session, Day–1 proceeded with technical sessions including orientation on FLS 2026, sampling methodologies, tablet usage, and assessment frameworks.
Day–2: Technical and Practical Sessions (April 7, 2026)
The second day of the workshop focused on consolidation and practical implementation. The sessions began with a review of Day–1 proceedings, followed by detailed discussions to clarify concepts and methodologies.
Participants engaged in practical exercises and hands-on training, including a full-scale exercise based on the previous assessment template. This intensive practice ensured that all Field Investigators gained clarity on tools, procedures, and data collection techniques, thereby enhancing their readiness for the upcoming FLS 2026 assessment.
During the concluding session, the distinguished guests were presented with mementoes and traditional scarves as a token of appreciation. The Principal, DIET Leh, extended his sincere thanks and gratitude once again to Dr. Indrani Bhaduri for deputing experienced experts and resource persons to UT Ladakh. He noted that their guidance and expertise significantly contributed to making the workshop a meaningful pre-assessment exercise for Field Investigators of both districts.
The two-day workshop concluded successfully with active participation and engagement from all attendees, ensuring comprehensive preparation for the effective implementation of the Foundational Learning Study (FLS) 2026 across UT Ladakh.
