Two-Day Training Programme for Charge Officers, Technical Staff and Census Clerks Held in Kargil.
Kargil, August 10, 2026: A two-day training programme for Charge Officers, Technical Staff and Census Clerks was conducted in Kargil District as part of the preparations for Phase-II Population Enumeration (PE) of Census 2027. The training programme aimed to strengthen the preparedness of officers and officials and ensure the smooth, effective and timely implementation of Census-related activities.
The training programme was conducted under the overall guidance and supervision of Principal Census Officer, Kargil, Shri Rakesh Kumar, who emphasized the importance of accuracy, coordination, accountability and timely completion of all Census-related activities.
Addressing the Charge Officers, Shri Rakesh Kumar, Principal Census Officer, Kargil, directed them to ensure that all activities under their respective charges are carried out systematically and within the prescribed timelines. He stressed the need for close coordination with field functionaries, effective monitoring of Census work and prompt resolution of issues arising during the course of operations.
He further directed all Census Charge Officers to submit the list of Enumerators and Supervisors nominated for the creation of new Enumeration Blocks (EBs) to the District Census Office for obtaining the approval of the Principal Census Officer by or before August 12, 2026. The directions were issued in view of the commencement of the Self Enumeration Portal for Population Enumeration from August 17, 2026, and the need to complete all preparatory activities well in advance.
Shri Kacho Mohd Hussain, CPO Kargil, also participated in the training programme. Shri Khadim Hussain, SO, Additional District Census Officer/DSEO Kargil, along with the concerned staff, also attended the programme and contributed to the deliberations regarding Census preparedness and operational requirements.
Shri Vijay Kumar, ADCO-cum-Master Trainer, and Shri Mohd Iqbal, Master Trainer, imparted detailed training to the participants on various technical, administrative and field-level aspects of Census 2027. They explained the roles and responsibilities of Charge Officers, Technical Staff and Census Clerks and provided comprehensive guidance on the procedures and protocols to be followed during Census operations.
Shri Sadiq Hussain, District Census Coordinator Officer, Kargil, also participated in the training programme and coordinated various aspects of the training and Census preparedness. He emphasized the importance of effective coordination among the District Census Office, Charge Officers and field-level functionaries for ensuring the successful and timely completion of Census-related activities.
During the training, the participants were sensitized about the use of Census-related digital platforms and applications, maintenance and verification of records, monitoring of field activities, documentation and other important operational procedures. Special emphasis was laid on maintaining accuracy in Census data and ensuring strict adherence to prescribed guidelines, procedures and timelines.
The Principal Census Officer, Kargil, further instructed all Charge Officers and concerned officials to discharge their responsibilities with dedication, coordination and a strong sense of accountability and to ensure that all preparatory activities for Census 2027 are completed accurately and within the stipulated timelines.
The training programme concluded with an emphasis on teamwork, accuracy, accountability, coordination and timely execution of all Census-related activities for the successful conduct of Census 2027 in District Kargil.
