    Two Weeks PM-USHA Bridge Course 2026 Successfully Concludes at GDC Kargil.
    Kargil, June 10, 2026: Government Degree College Kargil conducted two weeks Bridge Course under PM-USHA for the aspiring students of higher education. The Bridge Course 2026 successfully concluded on 09 June 2026, marking the culmination of a comprehensive academic and outreach initiative aimed at facilitating students’ transition to higher education.
    The programme commenced on an energetic and vibrant note with a volleyball match involving both boys and girls. The sporting event fostered teamwork, sportsmanship, and active participation among students, setting a positive tone for the day.
    The formal valedictory function was subsequently held at the College Amphitheatre. The proceedings began with a welcome address by Dr. Abid Hussain, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, who also served as the moderator for the programme.
    Addressing the gathering, Dr. Abdul Hamid, Assistant Professor and Convener, PM-USHA, highlighted the objectives and significance of the PM-USHA scheme, emphasizing its role in enhancing the quality, accessibility, and inclusivity of higher education.
    Mr. Ahsan Ali, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, presented a comprehensive report on the week-long Bridge Course conducted on the college campus. He outlined the various academic sessions, orientation programmes, career guidance activities, skill development initiatives, and co-curricular engagements organized for the participants.
    Thereafter, Mr. Mohd Raza, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, presented a report on the outreach and counselling programme conducted in various Higher Secondary Schools across the district under the PM-USHA initiative.
    It is pertinent to mention that the PM-USHA Bridge Course 2026 was implemented in two phases. The first phase, conducted from 16 May for a week, focused on outreach and counselling activities in various Higher Secondary Schools. The second phase was organized from 01 June to 09 June 2026 at Government Degree College Kargil, where students participated in a range of academic, orientation, and skill-based activities designed to familiarize them with the opportunities and expectations of higher education.
    Speaking on behalf of the participants, Ms. Shahnaaz Fatima, a student enrolled in the Bridge Course, shared her experiences and feedback. She expressed gratitude to the college administration and faculty members for organizing an informative and enriching programme that broadened students’ academic horizons and provided valuable insights into higher education opportunities.
    A certificate distribution ceremony was subsequently held to recognize the participation and contributions of students, faculty members, resource persons, and other stakeholders associated with the successful conduct of the Bridge Course.
    The gathering was then addressed by Prof. Diskit Angmo, Principal, Government Degree College Kargil, who congratulated the participants on successfully completing the programme. She appreciated the dedicated efforts of the PM-USHA Committee, faculty members, and supporting staff in ensuring the successful implementation of the initiative. She encouraged students to make the best use of the opportunities available in higher education and to continue striving for academic excellence and personal growth.
    The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Abid Hussain, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Principal, faculty members, students, organizing committee, resource persons, and all stakeholders for their valuable contributions and support throughout the programme.
    The event concluded with a lunch hosted for all participants, marking the successful culmination of the PM-USHA Bridge Course 2026 at Government Degree College Kargil.
