UIDAI Regional Office Chandigarh organizes workshop for UT Ladakh to share key developments on Aadhaar to simplify/enhance its usage
Leh, Oct 13: UIDAI Regional Office Chandigarh in collaboration with the Department of IT, Ladakh organized a day-long workshop for UT Ladakh to share the key developments on Aadhar, modes of Aadhaar authentication and simplifying/enhancing Aadhaar usage for improving service delivery in various sectors.
At the outset, the CEO, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Dr Saurabh Garg (IAS) gave an address welcoming the delegates and participants. He stated that with the successful implementation of Aadhaar the vision of our Hon’ble Prime Minister to improve the ease of living can be realized. It would transform the ways programmes are implemented. He added that Ladakh has done well in enrolments and should push for 100% enrolment and so far, 6 schemes have been identified. He highlighted the key benefits of embedding Aadhar in DBT and other schemes.
In his opening address, Advisor to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Umang Narula who attended the event as the Chief Guest, congratulated the participants and officials for the well-structured workshop which he stated is a timely intervention for the new UT of Ladakh which is still in the state of transition and such workshops can provide a strong foundation for the overall development of the UT. He instructed the DCs Leh/Kargil to organize more such workshops involving field-level functionaries in the days to come.
Principal Secretary, IT, Ladakh, Sanjeev Khirwar gave a detailed presentation on the implementation of Aadhaar initiatives in Ladakh outlining various aspects viz. working Aadhaar centers; Aadhar enrolment progress 2022; estimated district-wise Aadhaar status; enrolment agencies of Ladakh; special camps; strategy for covering left out population and the focus area action plans.
DDG, UIDAI, Bhawna Garg in a detailed presentation shared the overview of Aadhaar usage and legal provisions. She spoke on Aadhar online services; use of Aadhaar in the service delivery process of issuing various notifications; offline verification-seeking entities, among other important topics. She reiterated that the scope of Aadhaar is to build efficient public delivery systems, the legal reforms that have enabled much wider Aadhaar usage, not only for govt subsidies but also for good governance initiatives. Initiatives taken by other states e.g., Haryana and Karnataka were highlighted.
Director, UIDAI, Sanjeev Mahajan gave a comprehensive presentation on Aadhaar Authentication which covered the benefits of Aadhaar Authentication; authentication flow; modes of authentication; authentication ecosystem partners, among others. DDG, UIDAI Prem Narayan spoke on Aadhaar ecosystem and Customer Relationship Management in his presentation.
NPCI official, Vikas Sirohi gave a presentation on Aadhaar Enabled Payment System for Ladakh and gave an overview of NPCI. National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), an umbrella organisation for operating retail payments and settlement systems in India, is an initiative of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) under the provisions of the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007, for creating a robust Payment & Settlement Infrastructure in India. He spoke about Aadhaar Payment Bridge System (APBS); Aadhaar-based DBT; Aadhar seeding process flow; API’s for Aadhaar status and AePS objective.
Director UIDAI presented the vote of thanks and the session concluded with a Q & A session wherein the officials cleared their doubts with the speakers.
The workshop was attended by the Administrative Secretaries UT Ladakh; Officials from various depts of UT Ladakh and staff of IT Dept, Ladakh.
